Between the big family meals and boozy holiday parties, we all struggle with weight gain this time of year. So here are a few things to add to your weekly routine that can really make a difference. P.S. #5 is our favorite!
1. Take a walk!
Sedentary activities, like sitting on the couch watching sports, are common holiday traditions for many of families. An activity as simple as a family walk can provide benefits, as it will get your mind off food and allow you to bond with your loved ones.
2. Avoid the snack attack
During the holiday season, unhealthy snacks like cookies and other goodies tend to be available for you to take as you please. Keep treats out of sight when at home, be mindful of your snacking habits at parties, and try to only eat if you're hungry, not just because it's there.
3. Use portion control
When the holidays arrive, it can be easy to overdo it on your portion sizes. You can either measure smaller amounts, or trick yourself (and guests) with smaller plates ;)
4. Get plenty of sleep
Those who do not sleep enough tend to be hungrier, consume more calories and get less physical activity. I'll say it over and over again - get your zzz's when ever you can!

5. Sign up for a workout challenge
Committing to a weekly workout challenge is a great way to stay accountable and get a sense of community with the other members completing the challenge. And it just so happens that Efficient Working Bodies is offering a Holiday Challenge this year! So whether you live in San Diego or not, we’d love to have you join!
